Checklists (QRH)

Document RFD-QRH-001 · v0.1 DRAFT · Print and laminate for field use. These are memory-item summaries — the amplified procedures are in Flight Operations. Aircraft-specific numbers are in Part B. UNCONTROLLED WHEN PRINTED.

  1. Weather within limits — anemometer reading sustained 30 s; wind, precipitation, temperature ✓
  2. Airspace / NOTAMs / authorisations confirmed (operator’s responsibility)
  3. Pad ≥ 2 m × 2 m, firm and clear; take-off aligned with outbound bearing; overhead volume clear
  4. Airframe: no new cracks (3 / 15 / 50 mm ladder), no delamination, fold joints engaged
  5. Propeller/vanes undamaged — any prop nick = replace, matched set
  6. Motor-mount fasteners: paint-witness marks intact; prop retention tight; motor spins free
  7. CG between the arrow tips; fiducial marks aligned (after any assembly/payload change)
  8. Battery: charged, no swelling/damage, connectors clean, secured
  9. Payload secured; bayonet locked
  10. GCS up · telemetry radio connected · QGC telemetry logging ON · RC transmitter charged
  11. Pitot cover fitted during inspection; removed before flight (pitot-equipped aircraft)
  1. Aircraft vertical on pad, area clear
  2. Power: anti-spark lead first, then remaining lead(s) — tone, chirps, surfaces sweep
  3. GCS Connect — parameters load
  4. GPS: ≥ 10 sats (min 6) · EKF white · heading/attitude stable
  5. Home position = intended launch point — verified
  6. Mission uploaded, downloaded back, and read back — every altitude reviewed
  7. Pre-flight calibration run (pitot aircraft); pitot cover removed
  8. Mode = hover (Q), throttle zero — 🚫 never arm in AUTO
  9. Crew at ≥ 15 m stand-off; ARM
  1. HUD shows DISARMED (auto-disarm ~2 s) before anyone approaches
  2. Power off — reverse order of connection
  3. Post-flight inspection: prop/vanes, motor mounts, tail/landing surfaces, battery temp, servos
  4. Battery: cool before charging; to storage voltage if > 2 days to next flight
  5. Logs: confirm GCS telemetry log saved; SD logs retained
  6. Technical log entry: flight time, defects, battery cycles
  • “Maintain aircraft control — analyse — act.” Aircraft can be replaced; people cannot.
  • RC link lost → aircraft auto-RTLs (0.5 s). Monitor on telemetry; ready to take over on regain.
  • Telemetry lost → mission continues; keep GCS running; RC still commands; reposition antenna.
  • Battery LOW (15 %) → begin recovery now. CRITICAL (7 %) → land immediately.
  • EKF failure → FBWA (forward) / hover (vertical); fly to safe area; land in hover.
  • RTL is the first option — but 🚫 never RTL from hover; land in hover mode instead.
  • 🚫 No go-around after a low-battery warning.
  • Crash → all clear 15 min (battery fire risk) · photograph before touching · quarantine battery · preserve SD card + GCS logs · report to RFD.
